With tree-lined streets, over 120 acres of parks, and a lake, the people in Monona love the outdoors. Throughout the year, many community events bring all of Monona, and friends from other communities, outside to celebrate.

Memorial Day Weekend signals the start of summer, and Monona starts its summer with the annual Memorial Day Parade. Monona's parade is the largest and longest-running Memorial Day parade in Wisconsin.

Another national holiday is reason to celebrate in Monona, as the Monona Community Festival is held near the 4th of July each year. The multi-day event ends with fireworks over Monona's famous Winnequah Park.

The summer winds down with the annual Fall Festival which offers a weekend of activities for all ages, including the Hoot Hoot Hustle 5K run or 1-mile walk, chili festival and cook-off, pie party, and family fun day with live music, hay wagon rides, games, face painting, and even a kids' pedal tractor pull!

In winter, the Winnequah Park lagoon offers the perfect atmosphere for ice skating, and skaters can warm up in the shelter house with a steaming cup of hot chocolate. In January, the Candlelit Snowshoe Hike & Bonfire offers another opportunity for families to enjoy the beauty of winter in Wisconsin.
