BABY & TODDLER: STORYTIME ROCKS!

Babies and Toddlers from birth to 26 months are invited to join us for 15 minutes of fun.
Play is serious business! Introduction songs, rhymes, stories, puppets, music, movement activities, literacy tips, books available to check out after storytime! 

Your child will learn some essential school readiness skills, like how to sit still for an extended period of time, how to pay attention to an adult other than his parents, how to take turns, and how to handle a book. Stay to play in our "Play, Grow, Read!" area after the program.

Walk-ins welcome. First come, first served.

A 30 minute multi-activity storytime for children of all ages. 
Enjoy books, stories, rhymes, fingerplays, music, and crafts!

Beyond the literacy benefits, these story-times are simply a nice option for a free family activity! 
Story-times will help parents learn skills to support their child’s learning: During the storytime series, you will learn about great books, learn songs, finger plays and nursery rhymes that you can use with your child at home. Ms. Karen will model reading skills that you can follow – such as pointing to words as you read them, asking children questions about what they see on the page, letting them predict what is coming next in the story.

Stay to play in our "Play, Grow, Read!" area after the program.

MUSIC MAKERS AT MONONA LIBRARY!

Children birth to age 5 are invited to shake, rattle and roll with Carolynn Schwartz!

Music fun which helps children build a strong foundation for learning. Musical games will help children develop skills in language, literacy, and social-emotional skills - all while having fun playing instruments and moving.

First come, first served drop in tickets available at the Story Room door.

WISE OWLS. KIDS AS STORYTELLERS!


Thursdays, June 14, 21, 28 July 12, 19. 
For children ages 8 to 13 years old who have an interest in learning to tell a story. Storytelling improves language skills, boosts memory, develops creative thinking and imagination, enhances cultural understanding. 

Children in this 5 week workshop will receive step-by-step instructions on effective story selection as well as learning and telling predetermined stories. At the end of the workshop, children who have learned and practiced a story will be invited to present it to families and friends at a Storytelling Concert on Thursday, July 19th at 5PM

Raise a reader! The 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program is an early literacy reading program which encourages parents and caregivers to provide positive, nurturing early experiences by reading aloud to their children ages birth to age 5. We invite you to participate in this exciting, free program. Learn more here. The 3rd Annual Graduation Party is January 2018.
