Monona News Update 5/20-5/28
Date: 05/20/2013
This is the Monona News for the 4th week of May.
The Monona Planning Commission met last Monday at the Public Library. The committee had four main items on their agenda. The commission approved the permits for a city solar project. If the project is approved by the council, it would include installing panels on many city buildings including City Hall and the Library. The planning commission also saw plans for an expanded Tiki Bar at the East Side Club, and for a new outdoor eating area at the Silver Eagle. Finally, the commission saw plans for a new McDonalds on Monona Drive. If you would like to see last weeks meeting, watch for it on Monona Community Cable.
Drivers on Monona Drive were switched to the west side of the street last week. The next phase of the project, involves building a temporary lane on the east side. In a few weeks, drivers will be switched to the temporary lane, so that crews can build the new, permanent lanes on the West Side. During the construction project between Nichols and Winnequah, please slow down and watch out for workers. The reconstruction project should finish all phases next spring.
The construction project on the Drive will shift a Monona tradition south next week. Monona's annual Memorial Day Parade, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, will start at 10:00 a.m. on Memorial Day. This year's parade will begin just south of Nichols Road and head south on Monona Drive to Femrite. The parade will then turn left all the way to Edna Taylor Parkway. Like always, you can watch the Parade right here on Monona Community Cable.
Finally this week, we'll leave you with music from last week's orchestra concert. Have a great week.
